About the Project
The "Chuen Lung Visual Research Archive" project brings together institutions and artists from diverse disciplines to conduct phased fieldwork and document oral histories in Chuen Lung. By integrating a wide range of historical materials, it aims to establish a comprehensive visual archive of the village. This effort seeks to showcase and preserve the cultural heritage of this Hakka village, which boasts hundreds of years of history, while documenting its transformation from a rural settlement to a modern society.
The scope of the research encompasses six seemingly independent yet closely interconnected areas: everyday life, vernacular knowledge, the anthropology of landscape, cultural practices, natural ecology, and ethnobotany. The "Chuen Lung Visual Research Archive" is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2026. An exhibition will be held to present the final results of the project.
