Koon Man Space (KMS) is a community-oriented photography resource centre operated by the Hong Kong International Photography Festival (HKIPF). Nestled in the scenic valley of Chuen Lung, KMS focuses on merging Hong Kong and international contemporary photography with the vibrant heritage of a 500-year-old Hakka village. Through exhibitions, public events, and workshops, KMS illuminates Chuen Lung’s rich cultural roots and ecological surroundings, creating a dynamic platform where art, tradition, and nature converge.
By regularly showcasing photography, film, and video art, KMS carries the dialogue on contemporary photography beyond urban centers and into the countryside. The space hosts a variety of programmes that bring together diverse visual artists, local residents, and the wider public for meaningful exchange. Core initiatives—such as the Photography Salon, Photobook Corner, and collaborative research projects with partners like Outdoor Wildlife Learning Hong Kong (OWLHK) and Sustainable Darkroom—further reinforce KMS’s commitment to expanding creative frontiers while honoring the village’s enduring legacy.
