Photobook Corner – Looking for Nature

Speaker: Robert Zhao Renhui
Language: Mainly English

This selection of photobooks brings together different ways photographers look for, observe and encounter the natural world. Across the books, nature is approached through camera traps, field observation, traces, chance encounters, long-term attention and close looking.

Rather than presenting nature as something distant or untouched, the books consider animals, plants and landscapes that exist alongside human activity — from wildlife adapting to cities and animals photographed in the absence of the photographer, to forests, traces and small cycles of life. Together, they ask how photography might allow us to notice forms of life that are often hidden, overlooked or only indirectly present.
