The ‘Photo as a therapeutic practice’ family edition workshop led by Leon Suen will be divided into two halves. Different games and techniques will be introduced for participants to approach photography and its meanings and subtext. In the first half of the workshop, Leon will showcase a selection of photos, and engage participants through games to discuss the emotions conveyed through the images, and what amplified those feelings. In the second half, Leon will guide participants to choose an object that represents their family member. With that subject in mind, participants will go on photo-taking practices, focusing on the quality of light, feelings of colour, and emotions of shapes, and how these elements can convey their feelings for the family member. Lastly, we will debrief by sharing images we’ve taken, and the aesthetics of photography.
