Artist Chan Ka-lam embarked on a journey to rediscover the unique flavour of Chinese Fevervine Herb Tea Cakes (雞屎藤茶果) from her childhood memories. This quest led her to Tuen Kee Tea House in Chuen Lung, where she was fortunate enough to learn the traditional craft directly from the owner of Tuen Kee Chinese Restaurant.Through self-study, experimentation, and perseverance, she successfully recreated the taste of her childhood.
This workshop aims to share that experience, inviting participants to trace the warmth of culture and the lingering echoes of memory with a cup of tea and a bite of tea cake. We hope to raise awareness of the importance of preserving traditional culture and inspire collective action in this endeavour.🍃
Join us at Koon Man Space to experience the making of chicken shit vine tea cakes firsthand, appreciate the charm of traditional techniques, and understand the cultural significance behind this unique treat! The exhibition opening ceremony will be held directly afterwards at 4:00 PM on the same day(no need register).
We welcome your participation!
