Overview
With millions of people participating in multiple protests in 2019, Fan attempted to explore the changes in social conditions of Hong Kong through portraits.
On June 9th, one million people protested against the extradition bill. Fan invited children in Victoria Park for a portrait, with the consent of their parents. The candid faces present moments of compelling silence and reflect the pure emotions of an age group often not visible in society in Hong Kong.
Half a year later, on December 8th, 800,000 people took to the streets. Fan continued this children’s portrait series and captured the changing atmosphere in Hong Kong.
