Manit Sriwanichpoom: The Last Man and the End of His Story
All things that come to be must end: this is the ultimate truth that Pink Man, the icon of consumerism, cannot deny. No civilisation stands forever. The end is just a matter of time. Consumerism and capitalism have created immense conflicts between the haves and the have-nots. Resources are not fairly distributed. The haves don’t want to share with the have-nots. Frustration explodes in violence. Pink Man meets his end in the United States of America, the world’s top economic power, but with huge income and social inequality and a soaring crime rate, including the highest number of gun-violence-related deaths: all problems that are ignored by the country’s leadership.
Pink Man dies before the world has found a solution to replace today’s consumerism and capitalism with better economic systems that could help make our planet Earth a more peaceful and harmonious home, free of unnecessary battles over natural and cultural resources.
